Another New Mandala Project

I really like the impression of a 'plaid' in this!   The piece started out with several wet layers that soaked through the paper causing some problems, and the colors weren't that attractive.  Red wasn't used until it was added as straight line segments, with pink to the right and then white.  It was totally experimental.  It needed some yellow spirals, then white lines, then more yellow spirals.  Originally, the piece had wavy edges, but they were trimmed into a circle to enhance the symmetry of the plaid-like form.

New Mandala Art

Gesso'd multi-media paper is the foundation for these fun mandalas in which ink, acrylic paint, pens and glitter glue doodles play in somewhat symmetrical and totally non-symmetrical ways.    I like the more gentle edging of the top piece.  The bottom one, on the other hand, looks more dynamic and tribal.  Maybe that comes from my experience of watching the election returns and feeling such division in our nation. Have you been arting during the election?  If so, how are you processing it?
