Magazine Feast!

I went to the book store today for my quarterly haul of inspiring magazines.  Today's purchase included six that have some great pictures and articles in them based on a quick review.  My eclectic magazine mix includes: Embellish  - an Australian magazine for textile arts, etc. Art Quilting Studio - yes, on art quilting Art Doll Quarterly - yes, on art dolls American Womankind - an advertising-free publication with articles on fashion, philosophy, etc. Happinez - a magazine with articles about living a positive, wise and loving life Ever After High - a new fairytale comic magazine (for a teenage demographic) with some great character drawings.  It is a clever idea, and the first issue of this magazine.

From Bottles of Wine

My newest idea has been to slice wine corks and glue the them to a black painted canvas.  The corks will eventually be painted with a verse added through another layer of stamped or painted letters. This is the creative process...with a concept that may potentially change as I continue to work on it.

Banquet Centerpieces

I made these fun centerpieces in the colors of the San Francisco 49ers for a recent banquet held at Levi's Stadium (home of the 49ers).  Levi's Stadium will be the site of the 50th Super Bowl coming up  in February 2016! We had an awesome luncheon event in the Press Box area, and these centerpieces added just the right bit of muted glitz!

Painted with Quiltlet of Painted/Recombined Canvas

I wanted to do something totally different...TA DA!  This is a painting with a small quilted piece of painted canvas and recombined squares in the center.  It was interesting auditioning a range of different-colored center elements that affected the depth or flatness of the overall piece.  This one feels like one enters the painting moving toward the center past jungle print portals.   What do you think?
