A 100 Best List for the Year

What are the top 100 things that were good, great, terrific, or awesome in your life in 2024?  It's that time of year to write them down!

I have finished my trek down memory lane for the year and am amazed with all the things I listed.  Here are my top 5 as ideas to get you started.

  1. The choice of the word 'joy' as my word to journal about in 2024 like how it infused my perception and experience throughout the year.  The effort was totally worthwhile!
  2. I met up with friends and fellow travelers overseas...a spontaneously-planned trip for me and a great time!
  3. I loved the five seasons of 'Fringe' a kind of sci-fi, time travel, mystery TV series that originated on the FOX network some years ago.  What I loved about it was the character development over the seasons as well as the sometimes-nuanced and other times easily detectable differences between the same character from one time to another time.  You have to suspend belief of course, and the sort-of mad professor was great!
  4. I loved hearing the Pasadena Pops perform while eating a lovely meal outdoors on a warm and clear summer evening.  It was an awesome event!
  5. I helped with a local voting operation for the November Presidential election.  There were many good people involved and it was a joy working with them.
Other things that can be listed are as simple as a type of food you loved eating, a book you loved reading, something you discovered that was cool, a show you enjoyed, something you made, a meaningful gift you received, a goal you achieved, something neat you found, tools you loved using, etc.  You can keep them simple or add as much detail as you want.  The skies the limit, so-to-speak.  Have fun!!

Note:  The 100 Best List for the year is an idea adopted from Austin Kleon.  Here is the link to his list for 2023:  https://austinkleon.com/2024/01/03/100-things-that-made-my-year-2023/

Visiting The Hague and Amsterdam (Netherlands), and Paris!

Since late March, I've been planning an international solo trip that included meeting up with friends.   The planning is what makes a trip an adventure, and it was definitely fabulous -- now that it is in the rearview mirror -- so to speak.   During my two weeks abroad, the sights visited included the: Mauritshuis, a lovely art museum (The Hague, Netherlands) Binnenhof (The Hague, Netherlands) Delft (Netherlands) Kasteel de Haar, a castle (Haarzuilens, Netherlands) Museum Speelklok (Utrecht, Netherlands) Walking Tour of Amsterdam (Netherlands) Rijksmuseum (Amsterdam, Netherlands) Van Gogh Museum (Amsterdam, Netherlands) Dutch Resistance Museum (Amsterdam, Netherlands) De Oude and Nieuwe Kerks aka old and new churches (Amsterdam, Netherlands) Anne Frank House (Amsterdam, Netherlands) Sainte Chapelle/Conciergerie (Paris, France) Giverny - Monet's residence at one time (outside Paris) Versailles (outside Paris) Musee d'Orsay/VR Event titled 1874 Impressionists First Exhibition...

New Project in Progress

I'm working on a new project with multiple layers and shapes of different colored organzas.  It is an interpretation of lighting on an ice rink...from a show I recently saw.  There is a lot more stitching to do, but I like how its coming along.  I'm learning organzas are not easy to work with especially when you layer them and have overlaid edges.  The fabric also tends to ravel easily. Fabric Basket - Pretty Easy

This basket was made in Jane Hall's half-day course at IQF 2014.  The greatest amount of time involved in making it--was cutting and sewing the strips together.  Otherwise, it went together easily and quickly (3 hours). These baskets are a great holiday gifting idea that you can match to family and friends' home decoration color schemes.  They're fun and useful besides.
