PoliZine #2 - The first 100 Days minus the first 40

It has now been 100 days since Donald J. Trump was inaugerated President of the United States and began his second term in office. PoliZine #1 covers the period beginning Inaugeration Day through the end of February. Today's post is about my newest zine which is another digital collage of many shared Facebook posts from March 1 through the end of April -- about the political issues that have risen to prominence in the news cycle for this period including the peaceful, public protests that have been increasing across the nation, in response.

I've called this piece 'PoliZine #2' (Poli for political). It's hard to believe it only represents what has happened from 3/1 through 4/30/2025...all that has been visible to the public, that is. It marks the completion of the administration's first 100 days, considered an important benchmark.

Both PoliZine #1 and PoliZine #2 feel like hosting containers for the information dumps I've needed to make for my own unburdening. Neither of them are pretty, and they have no order. But isn't that what we -- who are citizens of the U.S. -- have been going through since January 20th? Looking at it this way, it seems quite fitting.

Final Wheel-throw Pottery Batch

With this batch, I have 73 successful wheel-thrown pots and bowls...wow! That is aside from the nearly 40 fails. So over four months of classes and practice, I've thrown over 110 vessels. Florian Gadsby would be proud...as I've completed my first 100 throws that he advises getting done as soon as one can! I owe some of my learning to him and his videos (on YouTube), and the rest to the instructors, staff and students at BHC (the place I've done my work at since June). Thank you to all my teachers -- meaning all of you in one way or another!

New Project in Progress

I'm working on a new project with multiple layers and shapes of different colored organzas. It is an interpretation of lighting on an ice rink...from a show I recently saw. There is a lot more stitching to do, but I like how its coming along. I'm learning organzas are not easy to work with especially when you layer them and have overlaid edges. The fabric also tends to ravel easily. This post also linked to http://ninamariesayre.blogspot.com .

This is an exceptional video of a fine art restoration...just beautifully done (and the music is lovely too)!
